16 years old newly diagnosed,

Hi,

My name is Rachel and I was diagnosed with cancer two days ago, on May 18th 2010. It all started around march break. I was having pains in my abdomen, but thought it was a side effect of the medication I was already on. After a visit to my doctor, I was sent to emerge with a suspected appendicitis. After a CAT scan, I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst the size of a football, that was hiding very well since i only weighed around 115 pounds. The cyst was removed through lower abdominal surgery, and my ovary  was removed as well.

I waited 6 weeks for my checkup, thinking that if it had gone this long without any contact, that it was just a regular cyst and everything would be fine. At the six week mark, the surgeon told me that the cyst was a dermoid cyst, an immature teratoma in stage 2 and that I woulds require further treatment.

I’m supposed to start chemotherapy this summer, and though I’m very frightened, I can still imagine much worse things.

    Ayurveda may be better able to heal your ailment with out going for chemotherapy, and with out side effects. Please speak to your doctor, if he is ready to monitor your betterment trough few weeks, I am glad to extend my help.

    Please look into this video and research this information for yourself. It’s called The Rick Simpson Story, Run From The Cure. You can find it on you-tube, it’s a 7 part video. Please do your research on chemotherapy.

    hey i know your scared byt its all going to be with it when your doctor turns to you and say your cancer free the treatments aren’t that bad theres alot of stuff that make the side effects go away and losing your hair isnt a big deal its not important when your badeling cancer all i have to say is make the best of it:)

    The tumors have actual grown back since posting this, and as a result I had to start BEP chemotherapy immediately and will require another surgery.

    Hey,
    I had the exact same situation. My cancerous cyst (stage 2) was in my lower abdomen, the size of a large grapefruit. I underwent surgery to remove the cyst as well as an ovary and fallopian tube. Although the chemo was rough, I know that you can do it! You seem like a very strong person. I know that when I went through it, I was afraid and scared to tell my story. You are so brave.     Wow finally glad I found someone else!!
    I have a left ovarian cyst wich mesures 6.9 x 5.7 cm and a growth in my fallopian tube. I was in the hospital tuesday/wednesday and gotten another scan and they said there’s abnormal changed that shouldn’t be there so I gotteb bloods done for a test called tumor markers. I get my results I’m 14 days :/ :O

    Thr docs said ovarian cancer is really rare in teens but now its looking more than likely :/

    Hi Rachel, your story gave me goosebumps. I made a friend at the hospital who had ovarian cancer. I’m 17, and I have Leukemia. Chemo treatment can be hard but it’s so important to remember that you’ll get through it and just focus on something AFTER treatment. Just always stay positive. Talking to someone about treatment is really healthy, whether it’s a friend or a psychologist. I’ve been going through this crap for 5 years now and without someone to talk to, I would have gone crazy. If you ever just need to vent, you can email me.
