So…sick… I hate chemo treatments.

My name is Caleb. I’m 17, and I have Leukemia. I was diagnosed almost a month ago now, and I’m starting my Chemotherapy. Yesterday afternoon, I started my second round.

Thank God the first round was easy on me. This second round is really kicking my butt.

I didn’t feel really well yesterday morning, anyways. And I had the option of either having the treatment this morning, or yesterday afternoon at 4, and I opted for yesterday afternoon, because I had a track meet this morning.

I got there around 4:00, and they hooked me up. I sat in the seat, and waited for it to finish dripping.

Halfway through, I got a HUGE headache. I mean, this was the worst pain I’ve ever had in my head. It felt like someone was hitting me in the head with a hammer.

I finished and went home about 2 hours later, after talking to some really close friends in the treatment place.

I got home, and went to lie down and watch a movie. My head was still pounding.

This morning, I woke up, and automatically felt sick. I stood up, and I was extremely dizzy. I spent the better part of the morning in and out of the restroom, and sleeping on the bathroom floor. I hate that.

I was usually pretty healthy. I never got sick before all of this happened, and I’m not used to it. I don’t like it.

After my numerous restroom trips, I finally worked up enough strength to make it down stairs to say good morning to my amazing mother, and I sat down at the kitchen table, and laid my head down. My mom felt my forehead, and took my temp and all that. Granted- she’s not used to this quite yet, either. She’s used to healthy kids, I mean, none of my 5 brothers have ever had anything that compares to this, and neither has my sister. Quite frankly, neither have I. She’s not very fond of us being sick at all, I mean, the flu season is a terrible time for her! I was running a fever of like… 102, I think. And my head was still killing me.

She sent me to lie on the living room couch, and when I laid down, I turned on Fired Up!, and soon fell asleep.

I woke up about an hour later, and I felt a HUGE surge of nausea, and I leapt for the restroom.

See, now, this is where my story gets pretty pitiful. I hate being sick. SO much. I absolutely despise it. But I’m smart enough to expect it with Chemo.

So, I spent a lot of my afternoon throwing up, and falling asleep, and throwing up, and falling asleep again, and on and on.

Needless to say, I didn’t have a very good day.

I hate Chemo treatments.

Who’s with me?

    Dear Caleb
I wish I could really send this video to every person on this website. It is a total tragedy that kids have to go through this kind of stuff. I pray for all of you guys. I wish I could help everyone. Please just watch this video and do some research, it is honestly worth the hour it will take to watch it. It’s called RUN FROM THE CURE – The Rick Simpson Story. You can find it on you-tube, it’s 7 parts to it. Here’s the link to the first one…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjhT9282-Tw. Even if you don’t think you could believe it, please watch it. There is tons of info if you look. Please don’t be a robot. My sister and I came across this information and I really feel like I need to spread the word.
God bless you and heal you.

    Hi,
I’m Rachel and I’m 16. Although it all depends on the type of chemo, the nausea so far has been the worst part for me as well, I started my two weeks ago.
Its a viscous cycle, when you need the nutrients and water to feel better, but nothing will stay down. I actually found that the best remedies for me, were listening to my favorite music, and some low does kinda tranquilizer pills that are absorbed under the tongue, ( so no swallowing) i believe they’re called Ativan, and they seem to work because thinking about being sick makes you more sick, and thinking about more chemo can induce more nausea.
I really hope the following treatments will be easier for you.

GAH totally and utterly with you. do you still have your hair? because if you do then you won’t for much longer i’m afraid. but the upside of all this is that you can understand other people better than you do before and you are generally a better person for it. And anyway, getting better is just something more to get stuck into, and even though you won’t feel very enthusiastic sometimes, just imagine it’s something else to beat. WHICH it is, OBVIOUSLY. and do whatever you have to to get around all the rubbish that we have to deal with, even if it is weird. i mean who are They (whoever they may be) to judge you or whatever? oh and what type of leukemia do you have? <3<3<3 lots of love and good luck with all you treatment and that :D

  • Ali

Hi! I don’t know yet but I might have skin cancer and I am sorta scared about going to the hospital and finding out it’s cancerous I will be totally not happy. I have a mole on my back and it might have grown soooooo yeah. I am also afraid that if I go through chemo about losing my beautiful short blonde hair. I hope that if I do have skin cancer that I fight it and that if I end up having to get chemo that I can get a wig if I lose my hair.

  • alexandra

if it’s a mole then they can remove it so you probably won’t have to have chemo :)

  • quinton

Chemo has got to be the worset. I’ve got A.L.L leukemia and in the chemo that i got yesterday litteraly felt like someone had taken a tracker beem to my cells and sucked me dry; had no power at all. And this morning my lipnodes around my throat are swelling up, and is becoming pretty irritating.

  • Gemma

You got it, chemo is a life-saving, amazingly idiotic idea that we all hate. i have Wilm’s tumor so they took my kidney out and i have a huge scar but i guess it is sortof good coz they can’t give me too much chemo :D i’m getting high-dose treatment soon and i’m really nervous. i have to get another nose tube coz APPARENTLY i’m too skinny. stupid doctors. do any of you guys have to get nose tubes? fat guys and girls, it’s WAAAAY better to be fat than super-skinny, take it from me! huh. if any of you guys happens to have wilm’s tumor’ write back. it’s super-rare in girls my age.

Heyy guys :) I’ve just stumbled across this page on google and not really sure where to post.

Well the docotrs found abnomal changes to my biggest growth 6cm x 5 cm when I was in the hospital on tuesday/wednesday so they toolk bloods for a test called tumor markers.

I’m really scared cos of my age I’m 17 the doctors don’t really explain anything fully unless my mum and dad are there.

The doctors said ovarian cancer is really rare in teens but now its looking a strong possibilty :/
I get my results in 14 days ::O

If anyone fancies a chat please email me at uniqueblondiee@gmail.com
