TEENS - Here's Your Chance: |
Tell your medical team how you want them to talk to you. What works? What doesn't? What do you need? Got any good advice?
This innovative program studies the normal challenges of adolescent development in the context of a cancer diagnosis and teaches effective communication and relationship skills necessary for optimal interaction with your teen patients and their families. Developed with input from several teens, this course targets the difficulty many practitioners face when dealing with teenage cancer patients.
Here's what the teens told us: "I wish they'd just get to the point instead of beating around the bush. I can take it." "It was like I wasn't even in the room. They just talked to my parents." "The docs just don't know how to connect." Talking with teenagers can be tough!
