Mark was 18 years old when his sister Melissa was diagnosed with cancer.

I was living in Denver, Colorado for part of the time my sister was sick with cancer. I was taking a year off from college – just working and painting – and had a lot of time on my hands.

I thought of my sister Melissa often. We'd talk or write to each other. Sometimes I'd be home all alone at my house in Denver and would listen to the Best of Marley. A particular track called ""Chances" touched me.

At the time, the doctors were predicting my sister's "chances" of survival.

As I listened to this song, I began to realize that there was more to "chances" than statistics.
